Gilbert, AZ – Last Saturday evening was the “EMERGE” student art reception at Art Intersection in Downtown Gilbert. Of the 100 chosen photos in the show, 19 were Williams Field High School students.

“Abbruscato and I heard many people commend the quality of our program,” explained Mr. Adams, digital photo teacher. “The Art Intersection gallery manager commented that the WFHS Photography program, in her opinion, is one of the top four in the state.”

At the event, Kymber Derrick (11) won Best of Show (High School) for the entire show. She was awarded a Phoenix Art Museum’s In Focus annual membership and a cash prize from patrons Kelly and Dennis Collins. The photo was also sold at the show.

Monique Sherman (12), who won the Higley Unified School District’s Art Show for photography, was named High School Honorable Mention.

“We appreciate your continued support for our program and all the CTE and Arts programs on campus,” shared Adams. “And thank you to Dr. Shillingburg and Mr. Tannenbaum who joined Mr. Abbruscato and myself to represent our district Saturday evening.”
